Hi,

I just recently bought MF, because a friend of me told me it rocked. So little happy me went to the store and bought MF, got home, installed it and tried to run te game.
The splash screen appeared and i got into my "game mode" cool
windows XP made this annoying error message sound, the splash screen disappeared and nothing happened :f:
I downloaded the patch and installed it, still the same problem, tried deactivating hardware acceleration, didn`t work, so now i'm out of options...
i even formatted my pc, to see if it worked, but even that didn`t work, so now only MF is installed..  :{

Specs:
AMD Athlon XP 2200+ (1,8 Ghz)
GeForce FX 5600 128 MB
256 MB RAM
Windows XP home edition

Hey pal - can you tell us which version of DirectX you are running, and it would also be useful to post your DXDIAG.log (goto Start > Run > type dxdiag then export to a file...)

Have you had a look thru the other threads in this Bugs forum ? Also have you had a look thru the Tutorials there can be some useful info in there about getting the game to work ...

Is your motherboard VIA chiped?
If it is, try download the latest "4in1 drivers".
I know several ppl having trouble running MoFo on AMD Athlon based PC's.
Sometimes it helps running a "nocd patch" for the game.
(Do you have the english or german version?)

 Hi,

We need some more information before being able to answer anything on this.

I looked at the attached log file and it looks just plain wrong in some places - for a start its missing all of the punctuation characters it should have ??  There are no \ characters in you base directory name and no colons after the init statements ??  Very bizarre...

Aside from that we need the dxdiag log mentioned by natch above and a hardware log from msinfo would help - go to Start->Run and type 'msinfo32' and do File->Save as mysystem.nfo.  Then attach that file as well.  Then we have the direct x diags, the mofo log file and the hardware diags to go on.

Thanks,
Walker

hehe, I have a crappy screen, so 1280x 1024 only runs at 60hz, if I want to have 85 Hz I'll have to go back to 1024 x 768 :shk:

Edit:
And your box quote can also be found on the GeForce FX 5600 box Wink

ok, very cool. that edition is hard to get hold of nowadays! not really sure whats causing ur probs then. can u not get into the game at all? can u send me the mobileforces.ini file in ur MobileForces/System directory please. it contains all ur settings and one or two might have gone awry. then i can have a  look and maybe change some so ur game works.

ok, here's ur new .ini file. i changed the 'use direct sound' line to false. this MIGHT solve ur problem cos Pandoras-box had this problem earlier this year and this fix solved it.

get back to me on how it goes.
